We’re MELT-ing!

We never look as good as we do after a session in our favorite makeup artist's chair, no matter how closely we study every swipe of her brush and dab of her sponge. But your average how-to makeup course bores us more than Calculus 101. That's why we love the new Makeup Application Classes at MELT (172 Newbury Street, Boston, 617.262.1116). Led by a pair of the spa's star estheticians, each 90-minute session is more post-work party than study session. Champagne and other goodies enhance the festive atmosphere, while groups of up to eight are schooled on application techniques tailored to each individual's face shape and coloring. Attendees take home a set of professional-grade brushes and receive 15 percent off makeup purchases. New dates are planned for 2008 (visit www.meltboston.com or call the spa for details), and classes can also be booked for afternoon and after-hours private parties. The cost is $275 per person.
