Nowadays, the color pink usually connotes Victoria's Secret thongs, Harvard grads clad in popped-collar shirts from Abercrombie, and breast cancer. Harvard Square businesses are teaming up to fight the worst of these — and no, we don’t mean popped collars. The fourth annual Think Pink, Drink Pink, Shop Pink event, sponsored by the Harvard Square Business Association, kicked off earlier this month and runs through August 31. The event was founded by Grendel's Den owner Kari Kueltzer and former Grendel's bartender Pam Giller, whose father is a male breast cancer survivor. (That's right fellas: you're not off the hook here.) Each participating restaurant concocts a tasty pink drink, the proceeds of which benefit breast cancer charities. You can get your buzz and your philanthropic fix with options like the Hong Kong’s Bubble Yum Martini and Rialto’s The Ribbon, pictured here. Plus, Plan B Cut and Color Boutique is offering free pink hair extensions with any $5 donation to the Hoffman Breast Center at Mount Auburn Hospital. Other business are pitching in with unique offers of their own; find a full list of those participating here. So don't feel bad if you have a few too many this weekend — just make sure you're chugging charitably.
