March 25 | Black and White Party at the School of the MFA

Generally speaking, we're not supportive of efforts that encourage us to see the world in black and white. (Even if all that shadowing would be awfully generous to our bone structure.) But despite its thematic conceit, the Black and White Party at the School of the MFA (230 The Fenway, Boston) will actually help broaden the spectrum of art we see around the city: it's a fundraiser for Roxbury Open Studios, an annual October event that provides exposure for diverse local artists. Tonight from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., though, the party's attire, décor, and food will be in two tones only (the music, we presume, will have more); black-and-white artwork will be for sale too. As fun as it sounds, by the time it's over, we expect we'll be yearning for a wide world of color - and that, it seems, is precisely the point. For tickets ($20), visit discoverroxbury.org.
