Though
insects are touted by many sustainability types as the world's next
great affordable source of protein, we're thinking that the Hub's
famously culinarily stodgy locals will balk at entomophagy,
or insect-eating. We still recommend you try one local manifestation
of the trend, the tacos de chapulines (toasted grasshoppers) at
Powderhouse Square's fine, family-run Mexican joint, Tu
y Yo
(858 Broadway, Somerville, 617.623.5411). Seriously, they're tasty;
just close your eyes and enjoy the crunchy, low-fat,
low-carbon-footprint nuttiness. Anyone who has seen a live, swimming
shrimp or recently dined on a whole crab, crawfish, or lobster ought
to be unfazed - it's just another kind of bug.
