How often do you work out? I try to go [to the gym] every day, but realistically I go four or five times a week.
How do you stay in shape? Weight training and basic gym stuff — whatever gets me in and out of there. Cardio is not my thing.
What inspires you to work out? Never being too happy with yourself. There’s just that voice that says, “You gotta go.” Primarily, 90 percent of it is mental.
How closely do you watch what you eat? I do mental checks and balances, but there’s nothing that I won’t eat. If I do eat something that is over-the-top, 4000 calories tonight, I know tomorrow that means an orange and going to the gym.
What are your favorite foods? I love seafood; I find it as satisfying as the proverbial steak. There are days I’ve done two tunas in a row at the Franklin [Café]. Then there’s fruit and Zone bars. My idea of cooking is a can of tuna.
What indulgence food tempts you the most? Sweets are my Achilles heel. If it’s there, I’m cooked. The seven-layer cake at Abe & Louie’s is the best chocolate cake I’ve ever had.
How often do you splurge? I don’t keep a running tally. I’d say I splurge a couple times a month.
What is your favorite exercise? Doing pull-ups on a chinup bar. It’s so pure; you’re just working your body against gravity.
What is your least favorite exercise? Deep squats. It’s heavy duty.
You obviously have a great body now, but did you ever go through an awkward stage? Now. As humans, I think we’re always feeling awkward. Feeling a little awkward about yourself is kind of healthy.
What do you consider your best body part? I always get told I have nice ears. I can wear any headphones, which is an occupational advantage.
