We'd never wish big-box chains upon anyone - but there are two Boston beauty businesses that we think are destined for the national
spotlight. William George's James Joseph Salon (30 Newbury Street, Boston, 617.266.7222) has already given rise to two affordably priced James Joseph Studios (168 Newbury Street, Boston, 617.266.6600; 16 Earhart Landing, Medford, 781.393.6800), as well as an affiliate, Fulham Salon (847A Beacon Street, Newton, 617.340.6360), in partnership with one of George's stylists. If that's not enough, there's also the product line, Balance by James Joseph, coming late this year or early next. On the other hand, there's Marc Harris and his equally impressive brood - four Salon Marc Harris locations and counting in Boston (30 Newbury Street, 617.262.2222; 125 Broad Street, 617.443.8633; The Sports Club/LA, 4 Avery Street, 617.375.8510) and Andover (34 Park Street, 978.749.9888). And, of course, he has product under his belt as well. It's anybody's guess who will hit Vidal status first.
