We've always found it unfortunate that bathing-suit season arrives at the same time as some of the year's best food. But this year we're tossing our cares to the wind and embracing chef Jasper White's latest venture: The Summer Shack Cookbook: The Complete Guide to Shore Food (W.W. Norton & Company, 2007; $35). Try your hand at a few of the dishes inspired by White's four Summer Shack eateries; personally, we've been daydreaming of Conch Salad Bahamian-Style, Spicy and Greasy Rhode Island Calamari, and Summer Shack Corn Dogs.
