"Mr. Marmalade" at the Plaza Theatre
THROUGH SATURDAY, AUGUST 11
We enjoy being adults. We like to stay out late, sip yummy cocktails, and experience thought-provoking art. So it's somewhat ironic that Mr. Marmalade, one of the summer's edgiest performances, is all about a four-year-old named Lucy and her imaginary companion. But make no mistake: the play, at the Plaza Theatre (Boston Center for the Arts, 539 Tremont Street, Boston, 617.426.5000), features decidedly grown-up issues, from Mr. Marmalade's cocaine addiction to the attempted suicide of Lucy's five-year-old friend Larry. The production runs Wednesdays through Sundays; tickets are $15 to $30, and students get a $10 discount if they reserve in advance.
