We love the breezy perfection of the roofdeck at the Rattlesnake (384 Boylston Street, Boston, 617.859.7772). But we’ve always seen the bar and grill as a spot to grab post-work margaritas and quesadillas, rather than a place to hang out after-hours. All that’s changing, though, with the late-August/early-September opening of Venom, on the ’snake’s second floor. The space has been transformed into an intimate lounge: think new bar, state-of-the-art entertainment system, and a dimly-lit, sexy feel. Venom will be open Thursday through Sunday evenings, leaving the room available for private events on the remaining nights. The owners are even holding a contest, asking local bartenders to submit ideas for Venom’s signature cocktail; prize money totals $3000, so get your muddlers muddling and shakers shaking.
