While we've been focused on color trends, our latest hair-goop obsession, and Kate Moss's new bangs, big things have been going down in the Boston beauty world. One of our favorite local stylists, Marc Harris, is growing his empire: Salon Marc Harris (30 Newbury Street, Boston, 617.262.2222) recently acquired Financial District salon Maksou (125 Broad Street, Boston, 617.443.8633). Harris, who's been wielding his scissors on the same Newbury Street block for more than 20 years, established his first eponymous salon at its current location in 1990; he set up shop in Andover in 1999 and expanded to Providence in 2006. A local legend in his own right, Charles Maksou is staying on as Harris's business partner, continuing as lead stylist at the Broad Street location while bringing his innovative dry cutting technique to the rest of the Salon Marc Harris company. And stay tuned: Harris also has a high-tech hair-care line due out this winter.
