SUNDAY AND MONDAY, DECEMBER 30 & 31
It's all about reinvention for Soulive, stopping off for two nights at the Paradise Rock Club (967 Comm Ave, Boston, 617.562.8800). The band was best known for its funky, soul-infused instrumental work; then they added a vocalist to broaden their musical horizons and explore a new style. A recent forum post on the band's official Web site, however, indicates that Soulive plans a return to their more fluid, instruments-only roots. The group released their latest album, No Place Like Soul, featuring Boston-based artist Toussaint on vocals, in July. Doors open at 8 p.m. on Sunday and at 9 for the New Year's Eve show; general-admission tickets, available at www.ticketmaster.com and 617.931.2000, are $22.50 for the former and $35 for the latter.
