Front and center

We’ve long been admirers of stationery and gifts line Bob’s Your Uncle, so imagine how pleased we were to hear that the husband-and-wife team behind the brand was opening up a store in the Fort Point neighborhood where they also reside. The spare, cleanlined Front (25 Channel Center Street, Boston, 857.362.7289) gives work by local design businesses and artisans center stage, stocking everything from Plank yoga mats and Cor soap to furniture by Ben Durrell and Particles — and, of course, the latest and greatest from the quirky Bob’s line. The idea is to showcase simple, bold, functional goods that Martin and Michele Yeeles actually use and like. The two hadn’t originally planned to open a store of their own, but since they felt the area was in need of more retail business, they figured it made more sense to open a place themselves than to sit around wishing someone else would.
