Faith, it would seem, is the new fashion. It brings intrigue to celebrities (see: Madonna), trouble and controversy to politicians (see: anyone with a presidential campaign or a desk inside the Beltway), and bewilderment to comedians. Unless you’re Lewis Black, in which case it brings you ire. The perpetually seething Daily Show regular and host of Root of All Evil has penned a book in an effort to negotiate the holy waters of believers. Its title, Me of Little Faith (Riverhead Books, 2008), leaves little doubt that Black positions himself firmly on the outside. (The better to look on from a distance and satirize, my dear.) The firebreathing czar of ranting reality checks brings his tirades to, amusingly, the First Parish Church (3 Church Street, Cambridge, 617.876.7772) tonight at 7 p.m., courtesy of the Harvard Book Store (1256 Mass Ave, Cambridge). Pick up your ticket ($5) at the store or call 617.661.1515.
