Presidential elections, Olympic games, leap years, and lunar eclipses don’t happen very often, but each occurs more frequently than the release of a new
Breeders album. Twin sisters Kim and Kelley Deal have spent six years working on
Mountain Battles, which came out last month. Granted, there was some rehab to contend with after their last album,
Title TK, and Kim reunited and went on tour with her other band, the Pixies. On
Mountain Battles, the sisters deliver a solid medley of lo-fi rock interspersed with a Nico-esque German number and Spanish mariachi. We’re not going to go so far as to say this is a world-music album; it’s more like a study in world-weariness. You’ll probably hear some insolent outtakes tonight when they land at the
Paradise Rock Club (967 Comm Ave, Boston, 617.562.8800). The show is at 9 p.m. and doors are at 8. General admission tickets are $22; get them at
