Wednesday, June 11: Alicia Keys

Alicia Keys often confesses to feeling like she was born in the wrong era. Yes, the neo-soul singer, who writes and produces her own songs, is a throwback to the 1960s, but her influences have been gathered from a long line of singers that stretches through the decades, from Nina to Aretha to Diana to Chaka to Neneh. She weaves rhythm, blues, classical, and soul for a style that’s all her own, and with her third studio album, As I Am, which came out in November, she seems to have come to terms with, well, herself. It’s full of honest confessionals and laden with hiphop hooks. The rather epic As I Am tour has been going strong since last fall; tonight she’ll work out her existential crises at 7:30 p.m. at the TD Banknorth Garden (1 Fleetcenter Place, Boston, 617.624.1050). Tickets are $47 to $122.50; get them at www.ticketmaster.com
