As if their vintage Red Sox memorabilia and scrumptious New England cuisine weren’t enough, now lounge Johnnie’s on the Side (138 Portland Street, Boston, 617.227.1588) has Legendary Live Music Fridays, a weekly event that pays tribute to the old-school Boston music scene. Each week starting at 8:30 p.m., the vibrant and energetic Al Vega Trio will feature some of Boston’s best jazz vocalists. Vega’s been performing in Boston since 1938; he’s a genius on the piano and a master at the vibraphone. Is this a trip to the West End or a trip back in time?
