We thought the punch and other fruity mixers of our college days were inventive. But apparently we had nothing on the speakeasies of the Roaring Twenties, where resourceful drinkers used syrups and obscure cordials to mask the harsh taste of their homemade (and outlawed) booze. Now, in a nod to the 75th anniversary of the 21st Amendment’s repeal of prohibition, Eastern Standard (528 Comm Ave, Boston, 617.532.9100) is partying speakeasy style all year with 12 unique 1920s and Golden Age drinks. This month, try bar manager Jackson Cannon’s Sensation ($7.50 during the month of July; $10 otherwise), a mix of maraschino, mint, lemon, and Plymouth gin. Want to really get into the spirit? Sample two-ounce versions of all of them for $75. Flapper dress optional.
