By now you’ve probably heard all about the rainsoaked four-hour set that My Morning Jacket played at Bonnaroo, the annual hippie-meets-hipster music orgy. The downpours that messed up cool kids’ strategically rumpled bedheads and drenched dreadlocks didn’t keep anyone from dancing as the groove-heavy band covered everyone from Mötley Crüe to Erykah Badu. Scruffy frontman Jim James, who hails from Louisville but recently moved with his band to Brooklyn, is a pro at weaving rootsy Southern rock and ’70s schlock with a moody indie sensibility. On the band’s fifth album, Evil Urges, which was released this spring, he also tosses a little Detroit soul into the mix. And it’s all anchored in the jambandstyle glory chords they’ve been strumming since the get-go.Try this Jacket on for size tonight at the Bank of America Pavilion (290 Northern Avenue, Boston, 617.728.1600). The show starts at 7:30 p.m. Get tickets ($31) at www.ticketmaster.com.
