Great musical careers have come out of marriages — June and Johnny, Sonny and Cher, John and Yoko. But equally great legends have also come of breakups. Just look at Tina Turner, Jack White, Meg White, and Sam Phillips, whom you probably know from her work as tunesmith for Gilmore Girls. Phillips’s seventh and most recent album, Don’t Do Anything, is her first self-produced effort. Her longtime producer, T-Bone Burnett, had also been her husband throughout her career, but they divorced soon after her last album. But with a voice like burnt sugar, she’s not one to croon ditties of the wallowing, all-hope-is-lost variety. Phillips performs with her blues- and bluegrass-influenced band tonight at 8 p.m. at the Somerville Theatre (55 Davis Square, Somerville, 617.625.5700). Tickets are $25; get them at 617.931.2000 or www.ticketmaster.com.
