America has country music that’s sprawling and rambling like the prairies, and Iceland has Sigur Rós. This artrock quartet from Reykjavik, arguably the planet’s hottest chilly city, plays music that’s as ethereal, shadowy, and enthralling as the geysers and natural hot springs that dot their country’s landscape. Since hitting the international scene around 2001, they’ve been known for their majestic, symphonic, atmospheric melodies. And gibberish. No, seriously. Frontman Jón Thor Birgisson often croons in their invented language, Hopelandic. Chalk it up to global warming, but on their latest album, Með suð í eyrum við spilum endalaust (that’s With a buzz in our ears we play endlessly), they go heavier on the melody and jubilant rhythmic hooks. Hum along with them (unless you’re really good at picking up new languages) tonight at the Bank of America Pavilion (290 Northern Avenue, Boston, 617.728.1600). The show starts at 7:30 p.m.; doors are at 6:30. Get tickets ($25 and $35) at www.ticketmaster.com.
