Tuesday, September 9: Off the Couch film series

Sure, silence is golden at the movies, but a good talk is invaluable after the credits roll. That’s how the Boston Psychoanalytic Society sees it, and on the second Tuesday of each month a doctor from the society encourages analysis at Off the Couch, a film series at the Coolidge Corner Theatre (290 Harvard Street, Brookline, 617.734.2500). Tonight you can see Woody Allen’s newest study in neuroses, Vicky Cristina Barcelona — about a love triangle, of sorts, and the tangled web it weaves, emotionally and physically — and then talk about it afterward. Cambridge psychiatrist Rachel Seidel leads the conversation, which may last longer than 50 minutes. The film starts at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $9.75 and $6.75 for Coolidge members. Get them at www.coolidge.org or at the box office.
