The age-old tradition of Scottish music (read: troubadours in tartan whose narrative songs about bonnie lassies and wee drams inspire sing-a-longs) has given rise to two styles of modern songsmiths. There are those who turn out infectious pop or twee diddies about unrequited love and mundane days (see the Proclaimers and Belle and Sebastian, respectively) and the more raw rockers from Primal Scream to Franz Ferdinand, whose beer-fueled, garage-rock energy seem to have been inspired by the country’s driving rains. The Fratellis, however, straddle both camps. For as much as these Glaswegians whistle and go “bara bap bara ra ra,” they can also be plenty naughty with their romantic misadventures and driving guitars. Bop and stomp along to these nouveau troubadours tonight at the Orpheum (One Hamilton Place, Boston, 617.679.0810). The Airborne Toxic Event and Electric Touch will be there, too. Doors are at 7:30 p.m.; tickets ($25) are at www.ticketmaster.com.
