Supermodels, high fashion, and champagne. Party at Diddy’s house? Unfortunately, no.
You know that wide, flat glass that’s sometimes used to serve sparkling wine? Legend says that it was modeled after Marie Antoinette’s breast. (Poor girl, all that potential fame and she still lost her head.) It turns out that the story’s not true, but that didn’t stop the enterprising trio of Karl Lagerfeld, Claudia Schiffer, and champagne-producer Möet & Chandon from attempting a modern re-creation. With Lagerfeld helming the design, Schiffer providing the, uh, contours, and Moët throwing in a bottle of their pricey 1995 Dom Pérignon OEnothèque, who wouldn’t want one? It can be yours for the low, low price of ... you might want to pour yourself a drink ... $3150.
If you can find it, that is. After much nearly fruitless searching, we’ve concluded that it would probably be easier to fly Karl and Claudia over for a nip in the comfort of your own home. Still, if you’ve absolutely gotta drink your Dom from a Schiffer snifter, you’ll need the help of a specialist wine retailer like Federal Wine & Spirits (29 State Street, 617.317.8605) or The Wine Bottega (341 Hanover Street, 617.227.6607). By special order only.
