The name evokes a band out of the plains of Wyoming, but Blitzen Trapper comes out of Portland, Oregon, and is actually part of a pastoral folk music movement that includes such bands as Fleet Foxes and Beach House. Their early releases were psychedeliatinged exercises that paid dues to the Grateful Dead and Dylan, but more recently the albums, like last year’s Sub Pop release, Furr, have a raucous, outlaw flavor — like something you might stumble onto in a roadside bar in the Midwest. Don your spurs and giddy-up to hear them at the Paradise Rock Club (967 Comm Ave, Boston, 617.562.8800) tonight. The show is at 9 p.m.; doors open at 8 p.m. For tickets ($12 advance/$14 door), visit www.livenation.com.
