WEDNESDAY, MAY 27
Ok,we admit it. We were wrong. We always believed “Walk Like an Egyptian” would be
the song future generations associate with
The Bangles. But when we
learned that Susanna Hoffs is loading the tour bus with her fellow grrrls,
“Eternal Flame” was definitely the tune that came to mind. Sure, the ladies
reunited in 1999 to record a song for
Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me,
but that was still last century. So we downloaded some of their music (hey, we
only had their albums on cassette!), and to be honest, we’re excited. What
sounded like bubble gum pop to our music-junkie-in-training ears then sounds
like the stuff of a hard-driving, cliché-hating, punk-rooted garage band now.
They’ll walk like — err ... they’ll perform at the
House of Blues (15
Lansdowne Street, Boston, 888.693.2583). Dig out your poofiest orange scrunchie
and blue mascara, and get your tickets ($25) at
www.hob.com/boston. Doors open
at 7 p.m., and the show starts at 8 p.m.
