Are we the only ones who feel bad for never having heard of
World Environment Day? Fortunately, we have a chance to make up for the
oversight and celebrate this poor neglected holiday — not to mention our poor
neglected planet. At 7 p.m. on June 5 (mark the date on your calendars for
future reference, lest Earth Day continue to get all the glory), the Institute
of Contemporary Art (100 Northern Avenue, Boston, 617.478.3100) will
participate in the simultaneous global premiere of Home,
a documentary about Earth’s wonders shot from the air over 50 countries.
Narrated by Glenn Close and directed by photographer/writer Yann
Arthus-Bertrand, this film covers somewhat similar ground as another recent
documentary, Earth, but without the Disney hype and with
bunches of added art-buff appeal. The aerial imagery looks gorgeous, and if
you’re going to be made to feel guilty for all your less-than-green moments,
you might as well get some amazing eye candy at the same time. Get tickets ($9,
$7 for members and students) at www.icaboston.org.
