Free music is good thing. But instead of downloading it
illegally, take advantage of some free Latin music at Mozart
Park (10 Mozart Street, Jamaica
Plain), and you won’t have to worry about the music police or Metallica busting
down your door. As part of the fifth annual Tito Puente Latin Music Series, Orquesta
Bacharengue (just call it “OB” if you’re as pronunciation challenged
as we are) will play two types of hot Dominican music, bachata and merengue,
from 7 to 9 p.m. Berklee faculty member Ricardo Monzón leads the group, made up
of students, faculty, and Boston-area musicians. Joining Monzón and his crew
will be producer, composer, arranger, and pianist Henry Jiménez, who has worked
with many a Grammy and Latin Grammy winner. The organizers promise that “the
energy and dynamism of this combination will surely get the audience dancing.”
If it doesn’t, you may reserve the right to demand a refund from
those Berklee music snobs. We’re sure they won’t mind.
