... at a screening of The September Issue, presented by W Boston at the MFA

Marissa Hart, merchandise coordinator for Hearts on Fire
She caught our attention from across the room because her
chartreuse dress couldn’t be missed.
Her dress was a total steal at only $15 at
The Garment District; she paired it with Via Spiga shoes.
Her must-have for fall: tall,
flat boots
Marissa’s current style icon: “I hate to say
it, but Rachel Zoe.”
Her favorite Boston
shopping haunts include T.J. Maxx, Filene’s Basement, and The
Garment District.
We had to ask her about what ladies with itchy ring fingers
should ask for: “Tell your partner, ‘Get the diamond you think
is perfect for me!’ ”

Alberta Wright, art history and human rights major at Barnard College
We accosted her because we thought her
desert boots/cocktail dress pairing was perfect.
She topped off her look with her grandma’s belt and mom’s bag.
When not raiding her mom’s closet, you can find her thrifting
in JP, at Boomerangs and 40 South Street.
Given the opportunity, she would take over her
boyfriend’s closet, which is full of awesome vintage tees.
Style runs in her family: her dad inspired
her love for Clarks shoes.
Alberta
can’t live without a really good pair of shoes — “Something I
can walk out of the house in without worrying what I look like.”

Maegan Thornton, retail consultant at Flock
She put a smile on our faces with her
carefree, fun style and sunny energy.
Maegan wore a French Connection dress,
Calvin Klein pumps, a Ferragamo bag, vintage jewelry, and a Marc Jacobs watch.
She describes her style as boho chic.
So what’s Flock? Opening on September 10 in the
South End, it will have a “San Francisco meets
East Coast (‘sophisticated hippie’) vibe featuring easy-to-wear, whimsical
pieces with feminine detailing.”
This fall, she’s gotta have brown leather
oxfords.
She gets her inspiration from street-style
blogs, the ’50s and ’60s, and Jackie O.

Ryan Kelly, Sales Manager for HMH Publishing
Do we even need to say it? The man can pull
off a bold blazer!
Ryan’s approach to dressing is eclectic — he
loves to layer and accessorize.
You can find him shopping at Urban
Outfitters, American Apparel, Salmagundi, Barneys New York, and The Tannery.
He thinks most women get “it” right in Boston,
but guys, listen up: “The men’s scene is generally staid and
square. Men need to be a bit more adventurous. Try
harder! And please, never embrace drop-crotch pants.”
This fall, Ryan can’t live without scarves,
browns, purple henleys (yes, plural), slim
trousers, leather jackets, and a newly acquired military jacket.
