... AT THE W BOSTON WITH GILT GROUPE AND BRIDIE CLARK

Elizabeth Vaughan, graphic
designer
We pulled her away from her friends because her
two-tone frock was a lesson in day-to-night dressing.
She looked polished yet playful in a Charlotte
Russe dress, Anne Klein heels from T.J. Maxx, and textured tights from Target.
She describes her shopping strategy as that of a
fashionista on a college budget.
If a little extra cash is burning a hole in her pocket,
she scours the racks at Anthropologie.
If her style story was turned into a book, it
would be called The Thrill of the Hunt. "I love to shop
everywhere. I like finding original pieces at T.J. Maxx and Marshalls. I even
shop at Goodwill."

Jackie Jordan, freelance publicist
We had to snap her photo because her gold
snakeskin-print bag added just the right amount of glitz to the evening's sea
of black.
Her outfit had seasonless appeal because she
anchored a vintage silk dress and Rafi gladiator sandals with black tights.
She describes her style as polished vintage.
This NYC transplant's best vintage find in
Beantown so far was "an amazing black sheath dress with appliqué roses I found
at a tiny shop in Brookline. I couldn't even tell you how to get there!"
Her take on NYC versus Boston fashion? "New York
is a bit more daring: shorter skirts, higher heels. But the younger people I've
seen [in Boston] are very stylish."

Joshua Janson, volunteer at the
Animal Rescue League
He drew us in with his contagious energy and
vibrant striped tie.
He exuded a grown-up version of schoolboy charm in Prada
shoes, Bali pants, a Club Monaco tie, and a women's Gap cardigan.
The items he just has to have are dress socks by
Thomas Pink. "They're $50 a pair, but they're worth it!"
He describes his style as old-money chic. "What I
wear is what my dad would've worn by the fire."
When shopping, he looks for pieces that endure.
"These pants have been to the tailor about 10 times."

buyer who now works in biotech
We interrupted her sip of wine because we had to
ask about her positively ferocious leopard-print booties.
Her shoes were a major score because they're a
one-of-a-kind sample pair by Lulu Guinness.
She kept the rest of her outfit simple by
combining a black tiered Theory dress, her grandmother's cashmere jacket, and a
broken-in Foley + Corinna bag.
Her grandmother, Ethel, is her style icon because
she's one classy woman. "I get all my style from her."
The go-to item in her closet is a
black Helmut Lang tunic she found at T.J. Maxx for $25. "I wear it to death!"
