... AT THE NEW YEAR/NEW YOU BENEFIT FOR MSPCA ANGELL AT EMERGE

Lindsay Nordberg, blogger and fashion stylist for Stilista
We followed her to the bar to
ask about her girly-meets-grunge look.
She pulled off the near-impossible feat of mixing
floral and animal prints in a dress and boots from Urban Outfitters, a belt and
necklace from LF, an H&M jacket, and an Aldo bag.
She describes her sense of style as vintage with
a rock-and-roll edge.
Working as a stylist has taught her the value of
having an arsenal of well-made items. "I invest in good shoes and handbags."
Her must-have accessory is vintage jewelry. "I
love jewelry with a story and a history behind it."

Keshawn Jennette, visual communications student
We were immediately drawn to her ability to mix
neutrals and still stand out - even her nails were a glossy shade of gray.
Her basic-yet-bold look combined an H&M top,
Guess shorts, Jasmine Sola accessories, and vintage boots.
The most important items in her closet are
platform boots for walking in the city.
When she's looking to add quality pieces to her
repertoire, she heads to BCBG Max Azria.
Her style, in her own words: "romantic yet
gothic."

Shannon Asimus, retail director for Emerge
We had to pull her from her post because she
rocked silk shorts mid-winter and made them look seasonless.
She looked long and lean in an H&M top, a
Forever 21 necklace and shorts, and a Michael Kors watch.
The newest thing she's wearing is her asymmetric
haircut. "My fantastic hairstylist, Alexander at G20, just did it today!"
Working at Emerge helps her cultivate her daring
style, both in wardrobe and beauty. "We have a style support system here."
Her fashion focus is on vintage shopping and the
high-low mix. "I'll wear a $3 vintage necklace with $200 jeans; I choose one
great piece and create the outfit around that."

Lisa Yasner, private equity
services manager at State Street Corporation
We followed her to the stylist's chair because
her vibrant dress and 1940s-inspired shoes were understatedly glamorous.
She embodied ladylike grace in a Banana Republic
dress, Nine West shoes, detailed hosiery, and a Prada bag.
Her strategic pieces for a desk-to-drinks look include
blazers and cardigans for easy layering.
She is most looking forward to wearing breezy
summer dresses.
To her, true style is about comfortable elegance.
"Being comfortable in your own clothes is very important; trends don't work on
all bodies."
