Valentines at the Gardner

Sometimes the best remedy for anti-Valentine’s Day gloom is to grab the saccharine-soaked day by the balls and embrace it in all its romantic glory (kind of like getting a flu shot). For a refined way to slough off your inner cynic, head to the whimsically beautiful Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum (280 The Fenway, Boston, 617.566.1401) for its third-annual Venetian standards in the courtyard garden, art-gallery tours featuring work by Michelangelo, Rembrandt, and the like, and of course, cocktails and desserts. Tickets ($90 per person; $175 per couple) include a one-year membership to the museum to sweeten the deal. Order them at events@isgm.org or call 617.391.3949.
