 The
ambrosia of hip-hop artists and status-obsessed socialites alike, Remy
Martin Louis XIII Cognac is the champagne of cognacs, made solely from
grapes grown, but of course, in the Grande Champagne area of the Cognac
region of France.
That was a mouthful.
But the cognac is,
too. An absurdly expensive mouthful, one that the most finicky cognac
aficionados will find well worth the $250 per shot price tag at Bond (The
Langham Hotel, 250 Franklin Street, Boston, 617.451.1900), the new
upscale playground for Boston’s elite and discreet. This Remy Martin is
not for the novices, but for the real McCoy of cognac devotees, who
have cash to throw down and an appreciation for intricate flavors; it
boasts a complicated palate of exotic flowers and spices, with an epic
finish. While you’re enjoying the lingering notes of saffron, nutmeg,
violet, and pineapple, gawk at the artisan bottle, a hand-blown
Baccarat decanter crafted from crystal and 24-karat gold. Or just gawk
at your bill.
