TUESDAY, APRIL 28 We never quite outgrew the urge to run away and join the circus, and neither, it seems, did the folks at The Theater Offensive. To celebrate turning the big 20, Boston’s award-winning queer theater company is turning its annual benefit bash into a threering-worthy spectacle with “climACTS Under a Big Top!” At $175 per person, tickets are a bit pricey, but this promises to be one hell of a show. Hard-rocking cabaret queen Amanda Palmer returns to the Bean to serve as ringmaster, presiding over a night of jaw-dropping acrobatics, high-wire antics, and hot moves courtesy of shimmying go-go boys and girls. Gourmet nibbles and an open bar with exotic cocktails replace cotton candy and slushies, and you can win far better prizes than you’ll find at any midway at the live auction, which offers everything from Sox tickets to an African safari, with all proceeds benefiting the company’s True Colors: Out Youth Theater program. Get your circus freak on at 7:30 p.m. at the Big Apple Circus Tent in City Hall Plaza. Call 866.811.4111 or visit www.theatermania.com for tickets. ...
