...at BU School of Management’s Style Matters: Spring Silhouettes Fashion Show

AILEEN BENSON
FASHION SHOW PRODUCER

We grabbed her because she was among the beautiful people.
Elegance is key, she emphasizes, but it must be comfortable.
Her advice for a more stylish Boston: you never know who you’ll meet, so why not dress up a little?
Pose for a photo like an expert by angling your hips away from the camera and turning your torso toward the camera, she advises. This will have a slimming effect.

GERARD VALLECELLO
FASHION STYLIST

We fell in love for a moment
because
a man wearing an ascot is a man of our heart.
He looked dashing in a YSL ascot, a Hugo Boss shirt, an H&M jacket, Diesel jeans, a Gucci belt, and Ferragamo shoes.
Listen up guys: “Never be afraid of color or fabric, and don’t get locked up on staple pieces.”
His musts for spring? Silks, organzas, linens, and corduroy

GRACE SHIN IM
MISS MASSACHUSETTS/USA 1ST RUNNER UP AND EVENT MC

We waited for her to finish her
run-through because
we had to know where those shoes were from.
She impressed us with her dress from Barneys and shoes from Karen Millen.
She describes her style as not too overdone — simple and sleek.
She can be found shopping at Barneys, Dior, Saks, and Calypso.
For spring, she’s craving pastel Louboutin pumps.

MEGAN BOLOTIN
STUDENT AT BOSTON UNIVERSITY

We chased her through the crowd because we had to get a closer look at her skirt.
She’s a well-traveled dresser in a vintage skirt and shoes from London and a Theory shirt.
She thinks Boston has potential but needs to open up more to style. She wants to see people express themselves through clothing.
When she’s not traveling, you can find her shopping at LIT on Newbury, Intermix, and Achilles.

Who we spotted. What they were wearing.

Boston’s fashion scene, no longer the wicked style-challenged stepsister to the Big Apple’s, is on the move. To celebrate our increasingly fashionable citizens, we’ve created a new series featuring the random (and not-so-random) individuals who make Boston stylish. So thanks for the inspiration, enjoy, and be on the look-out for members of our Street Style team.

Hot hiss: Snakeskin

Hot hiss: Snakeskin

We don’t know when someone decided that reptile prints were sexy; we think it might date back to around 2001, when Britney draped a snake over her neck at the VMAs. Regardless, well-placed snakeskin-print accessories are making us feel steamy this summer...
Hot and high: Necklines

Hot and high: Necklines

The last time you wore a turtleneck was probably to conceal a hickey you got from the boy next door. Now you can get nostalgic as necklines on dresses, tops, and sweaters creep up for fall. But covering up doesn’t mean that sexiness levels have to go...
Open season

Open season

At long last, it’s finally show-off-your-toes season in Boston. But despite all the waiting for it, if you’re anything like me, you’re still not prepared: every year, the warm weather creeps up on me like a villain in a bad horror flick. This year, determined...
