FRIDAY, APRIL 10 We’re not sure whether it’s the mop-top
’do, the faux smart-aleck persona, or his high-intensity doodling on
that oversized sketch pad that’s always propped up on an easel beside
him, but lately we can’t get enough of the eponymous host of Comedy
Central’s new Important Things with Demetri Martin. Sure, he cut his teeth as the often disillusioned youth correspondent on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, but we suspect Demetri Martin developed his sharp comic timing while on the writing staff of Late Night with Conan O’Brien.
Or maybe it’s an instinct he honed while he was a student at New York
University’s law school. (If the latter is the case, little wonder he
dropped out before graduating.) Regardless, the self-proclaimed
“standard nerd” will bring his ironic humor — and his easel — to the Wilbur Theatre (246 Tremont Street, Boston, 617.931.2000). Catch his comic tour before you see him go serious as the lead in Ang Lee’s Taking Woodstock, due out this summer. For tickets ($37), got to www.ticketmaster.com or call 617.931.2000. The show starts at 7:30 p.m.
