Warm-weather beauty necessities
No matter how much SPF you squirt on, that hint of a tan is inevitable after a beach day. But if a sun-kissed glow is what you’re after, augment your look with the Bronzing Collection ($45) from CARGO. Skin will glow with just a few swipes of the low-maintenance Matte Bronzer, followed by a light dusting of Coral Beach Beach-Blush on the apples of the cheeks. Extend shimmer to the eyes with the Eye-Bronzer, and then complete the look with a few coats of Better-Than-Waterproof Mascara, known to survive temperature spikes and pool plunges. Get it at Sephora (Prudential Center, 800 Boylston Street, Boston, 617.262.4200).

Though it feels like we should be pointing the can at our locks after a blow-dry, a few squeezes of Dior Bronze Sun Powder Spray ($60) on our faces has made us converts. Simply aim and close your eyes; then blend the spray with your fingers and layer until you achieve your desired tan. The product is available in two shades, “Light Tan” and “Bronze Tan,” at Macy’s (450 Washington Street, Boston, 617.357.3000). Note: be sure to use the spray in the shower to avoid bronzing your bathroom walls.

We hate toting around bottles of pronetospillage sunscreen, so when we came across the Colorescience Suncanny Retractable Dispensing Brush ($60), we were thrilled that our days of scooping out the gooey contents of our bag were over. It’s easy to forget you’re even wearing the mineral makeup’s practically weightless powder, which boasts an SPF of 20 yet also stands up to hours in the water. It’s been drilled into our heads for years: slather on the sunscreen. But in our race out the door in the morning, it’s been known to inadvertently drop from our regimen. St. Ives came up with a solution, infusing a face wash with nongreasy, oilfree sun protection in its new Elements Protective Cleanser ($7.99). Clocking in at SPF 10, it’s formulated with a silicaencapsulated sunscreen that sticks to skin, even postrinse. You can pick it up with the rest of your pharmacy essentials too — it’s on shelves at most major drugstores.

Tacky body glitter is so seventh grade, but slap a name like Givenchy on the label and we were willing to give it a go. We were swayed by the understated Glitter to Go Fresh ’n Shine Body Gel ($35), a limitededition product available at Sephora. Packaged in singleuse tubes, the fragrant, sparkly gel cools steamy skin on contact, and can be worn alone or mixed in with your favorite body moisturizer.
