In an effort to avoid overwhelming our male readers with
alternatives, there’s one hair-removal technique that we’ve neglected to
mention: the practice of threading. This method, which originated in the Middle
East long before it began popping up in the States, features twisted-together
strands of cotton thread that are rolled over the face or body, trapping and
plucking out hairs from the skin with each pass. The technique has always been
the exclusive realm of specialists, only available at salons. That’s all
changed now, however, with the recent launch of the Threader Kit
($150) by SunMaita, the first of its kind that we’ve stumbled upon. The DIY
kit, available at www.sunmaita.com, contains a plastic threader frame that
mimics the angles used by professional threadists, plus “Feel Less” cream to
numb the area before threading and “The Closer” to soothe skin afterwards.
That’s one less excuse for bushy brows, boys (and girls).
