OMG he is hot, hot, hot!
It's no wonder as an 8th grader I idolized Ms. Gubitosa. She was in the 70's and seemingly remains very, very cool!
I don't think women are often threatened by the decor of a gay man's apartment, so Mr. Riggs need not worry.
way to go--- people getting laid off and he's fishing for endangered species
Good to see that he has been able to maintain his lifestyle while his company has had continual layoffs over the last two years
Riggs has a toe phobia. At Endeca, no one can have open toed shoes in his presence.
Could this mans head get any bigger...I think it just exploded.
Kristin has done a fantastic job on the apartment. Alas Mr. Riggs appears to be an enormous tool, apparently overcompensating for precisely the opposite.
Interesting, so that's what being an ex-Chip n Dale dancer gets you...
Success always breeds petty haters.
In a time of near double-digit unemployment, news about company executives misspending tax dollars and A.I.G. scandals, Mr. Riggs should have shown some common sense by not flaunting how big his TV is or how well stocked he keeps his sub-zero fridge. This does nothing for the reputation of his company that has recently gone through several layoffs. Success is a great thing, shallowness is not. Now that he has the designed apartment, the money and the accoutrements, he should look into buying some class.
@NicePlace - so does ostentatious douchebaggery
I agree with Pat the Bunny that the designer has done a marvelous job, and I hope this thread of comments does not take away from that. The author of this article has also done a nice job capturing the essence of this sexually confused man.
home makeover publicity FAIL
Wow, how jealous are you people. Someone in our culture is successful and all you can do is hate on him, that is exactly why we are going down flames. Instead of working harder so you can have what you want in life you have decided you will just bitch and complain then try and bring them down to you. Here is an idea, quit smoking dope get off your fat ass and go and make something of yourself, douchebags. And yes I know none of you are successful because if you were you wouldn't be bitchin.
Yeah, some of these posts are just the ramblings of weed-addled layabouts. I know this one is. Really we should be commending the designer on matching the color of the floor with Mark's "tan". That's some crazy Pantone shade!
Video of Mr. Riggs' last date that he brought back to his love shack:
www.youtube.com/watch
working: money, power and insecurity does not equal success. this idiot can't take his money or material pleasures to the grave with him. from reading these other comments by people who apparently know him, being remembered as a douchebag doesn't equal success either.
you have to wonder if Riggs' peers on the executive team at Endeca are embarrassed by this audacious flaunting of his lifestyle in the wake of those layoffs
Props to Kristin for designing such an amazing place and to Mark for the willingness to show the world his pad. I thought this site was called "StuffBoston.com" not "JealousOfABostoniansStuff.com"
@appalled: The fact that he allowed, or wanted, Endeca's name to be included in this is beyond me. For an executive at a search software company, he seems ill-informed about indexing by search engines. Indeed, Google has already picked it up.
The only explanation for the executive team not begging to have this taken down is that they are enjoying these comments enormously.
@Not Surprised: I wouldn't be surprised if the laughter behind his back is now deafening. This comment board is now fodder for the many laid off employees of Endeca.
Bachelor FAIL
Where's the stripper pole?
Is that where he T-bags his friends?
NO. Mr. Riggs does not engage in T-bagging for fear of mussing his perfectly waxed eyebrows.
I am guessing that Endeca's CEO Steve Papa, king of saving money on business travel with Motel 6 and cheap restaurants, is speechless.

Signed copies are in my office for $5!
Mark R. Riggs
Senior Vice President, WW Customer Solutions
Signed copies for $5? The staff at Endeca haven't gotten raises for well over a year, so that's pretty steep. Will you take $3?
Or, maybe we stick with five and contribute the money to the shortfall Mark's group created last quarter. Just a thought.
This is the cheapest form of an online dating ad I have ever seen!
A Harley guy? come on... REALLY? I think if this guy were riding a Harley and the Hell's Angels saw him.... well lets just say that his manicure would be a bit mussed up.... he's more the Vespa Scooter type... TRUST ME!
As for dating a lot... I think he accomplishes that on CraigsList....
Riggs, you need some grillz if you expect to be macking with any chicks I know!
Think of all of the leather short pants tucked away in his "custom drawers".....who has the bigger closet? Riggs or Papa?
Wow this is beyond sad. Not sure this company's reputation can get any worse.
This little incident has been so deeply gratifying for people who have been screwed over by Riggs and Papa over the years. Karma is wonderful. The bearskin rug I'm sure gets a workout late night doesnt it Mark. Papa's next email to Endeca employees will be trying to cool the buzz about a run in with the BPD last Fall at a downtown park bathroom (public lewdness and indecent exposure). digusting Steve.
This is what happens when you treat your employees like disposable pieces of shit. This is the most corrupt and unethical company in Boston, and Steve Papa has no one to blame for this negative backlash other than himself.
I work at Endeca, and frankly I'm disgusted by much of the comment thread.
Without a doubt, Riggs could have exercised better judgment than to be featured in a piece that evokes some of the worst stereotypes of corporate executives. At the very least, he could have insisted on keeping his employer's name out of the article.
But that hardly excuses the commenters using the article as a pretext to take cheap shots at Endeca. I can only assume that they are cowards with an axe to grind, hiding under the veil of anonymity. Endeca is not perfect, but it has earned a reputation as great company to work for. Don't take my word for it; ask people familiar with the industry.
I understand how people who have lost their jobs, either through layoffs or performance terminations, may be bitter and want to vent. I also know that some people don't think twice about anonymously defaming their competitors. But it still makes me sick.
I am so excited for you - what great publicity - your foundation is taking off! (And your photos are gorgeous)
"performance terminations"
talk about cheap shots
your better off not commenting
Looks as if Daniel confirmed the most recent dirty little secret at Endeca. They worked hard to keep the layoffs out of the news and hidden from the market, so bravo.
I wonder where that 20% of the staff that has now disappeared ended up. Maybe there hiding on the 10th floor, oh wait, we gave it up after the massive layoff.
Let's see....rides a Harley. He had me at hello.
This tool embodies all that is wrong with men today. The rest of us aren't a bunch of gender confused metrosexuals living in the South End. I think he likes to have his scotch and cigars on the poop deck, not roof deck. Go get a manicure you self centered egotist. And don't forget your body waxing appointment at 5:00 at LA Fitness. Didn't your secretary tell you about it? Oh, I forgot, she had a performance termination last week....
Mark, by the way, maybe you should have opted out of the article. This is soooo 2007.
Wow. This is funny stuff. I love passing it on with the comments to everyone I know. LOL

Well I am a former employee of the firm and I can say first hand that Riggs has style and class. When Endeca finally booted my ass out for gross incompetence it was Riggs who opened up his super condo to me. He held me tight and told me it would be OK. Such a giving man.
Sadly when I was shit canned at my next gig - Riggs wasn't there for me. What to do...
An Endeca executive trying to claim the moral highground is laughable. Endeca is contaminated by a lot of "isms"- and this article validates part of what a lot of employees and former employees have been saying for years.
Additionally Endeca fires people without valid cause all the time and then tries to either lie about it or spin it. Remember Jim Baum? I will bet that a lot of people wish that they had kept him around. Daniel Tunkelang either doesn't know what he is talking about (he's never in the office) or was asked to respond. For him to blame all of these responses on employees who were let go because of "performance terminations" or on competitors is absurd. At least some of these posts are by current employees as we can clearly see by the e-mail posted by Priceless.
Riggs should hire the designer to come in to his office and perhaps others to make their offices less threatening to women. Perhaps they could install readily accessible escape exits or panic buttons. Fortunately all it takes to render him catatonic is bare feet.
Karma Man we'd all love to hear more about the BPD incident with Steve Papa by the way.
doesn't matter who you are, where you live or what you do...
SCOTCH + CIGAR = RAUNCHYSTINKYBREATH
All you negative people.....Get your own life. Maybe if you go out and work really hard you could enjoy the finer things in life also..until then, shut-up!!!!!
As iron is eaten by rust, so are the envious consumed by envy. Jealousy is simply and clearly the fear that you do not have value. Jealousy scans for evidence to prove the point - that others will be preferred and rewarded more than you. There is only one alternative - self-value. If you cannot love yourself, you will not believe that you are loved. You will always think it's a mistake or luck. Take your eyes off others and turn the scanner within. Find the seeds of your jealousy, clear the old voices and experiences. Put all the energy into building your personal and emotional security. Then you will be the one others envy, and you can remember the pain and reach out to them.
Success breads contempt...there are obviously a lot of ignorant people in B Town with nothing better to do than trash a great person. I pity them!"
@ Susy Q: I don't pity those who have decided to let it all out right here in this most public forum. I might feel bad if it weren't so entertaining, but since I can't get enough of it, and I'm clearly not the only reader, then I figure I am in no position to judge the article, its subject, the comments and those who wrote them, etc - and neither are you, Susy Q. (Those who live in glass houses...)
The article on antibiotics are very good.
wow!! this guys is truely hated!!!!!
Hated? No, I don't think so... These are just the ignorant ramblings of foolish, mean spirited people who have nothing better to do then behave like adolescents scibbling on bathroom walls. And just because a man takes care of himself, and actually takes pride in his home, does not make him a homosexual. I'm certain that any one of the cowards who commented on his sexuality wouldn't dare to do the same to his, or any other mans face. You would be considered prejudice, right? What's wrong with you people? Maybe you feel as though Mark has done you wrong, or Endeca, and that's fine, people do get angry. This however is no way to behave for any adult, or any human being for that matter. Outrageous behavior.
must say, that is exactly the kind of stuff Endeca needs. Decent people initially, but they brought in so many "cronies" it's amazing. Fire top down. GO ENDECA GO...
This chick is way hotter than the Olsen Twins!
being jealous of this his success and material items is not the point. The point is that he has made it to where he is by manipulating, using, and abusing all that are around him. This is a guy who is so far up his own ass that he can't see the scorched earth around him. A sorry and likely a lonely man
These attempts to save face are almost funnier than the jabs. In the meantime... I'm going out and buying myself a Clapper to emulate Endeca leadership.
I've known Mark for many years, including college. The comments above are not true, not warranted and are shameful. I can assure you he's a class guy. Executives have to make tough decisions and that obviously effected alot of you..if you think you have all the answers, work your way up and try to be one!! As for Mark, if you think your comments have hurt him, I doubt he's even taken the time to read them....

Hey 'Friend of Mark', I'm rubber, you're glue.... Mark's still a douchebag.
A wonderful read about a person I know to be special. Thank you.
The designer has a bunch of pics of Mark's place on her site. Important question for Mr. Riggs: who is is the guy standing in your kitchen cleaning up? Is he the person who "channels" your feminine side?

Brilliant! Wonder how he's gonna explain that one.
Dear Teabagging Friend of Mark,
If Mark has not taken the time to read these comments, then this is just another example of him not listening to his coworkers.

I understand there seems to be a lot of anger about Mark and Endeca's executive team, however I would like to bring a slightly different perspective on this:
Although this is undoubtedly a nice little refurbishment exercise, if that really reflects where an Endeca SVP lives, then it's pretty clear to me that there is nothing to expect from this company! This is neither a large place nor an exceptional one by any standards - sorry for Mr Bang and Mr Olufsen. Not too long ago (2 years back), the Endeca execs were telling their folks they would become a $1B company. The following year it was discounted to $500M... Well trust me on this one: they will never go substantially further than their current 100M run rate because their exec team is the best illustration of Peter's principle on earth. And showcasing this place as if it was stunning is mostly ridiculous after all - but very much in line with the the company's taste for overstatement unfortunately. Pretty sad...
Fair points, especially about the zero pct chance that Endeca will ever become what it could have (a slow decline from "$1B!!", to "Team 500", to "how about we get back to $100M", to "our success is in the amount of cash we have in the bank"). Sad sad sad. I wonder when someone will have the balls to call the childish exec team on their mismanagement (what company still has the founders in charge eight years on????).

I know Riggs's and he will be severely pissed at all this, but at least he has a nice place and proud of it. On the other hand look at the evil dwarf Papa, his house is a shit hole which is no surprise because he is the meanest saddast nerd on the planet. Keep your chins up Riggs'y and give us a $10,000 smile, now there's another story.
Right...I take umbrage with the comment about Steve's house being a shot hole....Right. It's my job to clean our apartment...right and i think many dont appreciate how difficult it is to scrub the dirt our relationship creates. Love is a battlefield and we are warriors so all this jealousy on this post only shows that you are jealous of us. we are smarter and our backpacks are heavier.

Riggs didn't go to an Ivy League school--the guy dropped out of RPI and finished his BA at Northern Arizona University. They've never even seen ivy there...
