Jonathan O’Toole,

If anyone's going to up the cool factor of Somerville's Union Square, it's Jonathan O'Toole, Wendy Friedman, and Adam Larson of kick-ass new housewares, apparel, and gift boutique Grand. They stock goods that a) you won't find in every shop in the city; b) are quirky and aesthetically amazing; and c) won't cost you a month's rent. Yeah, we're obsessed, too. CEO O'Toole has a marketing background (he helped found word-of-mouth marketing agency BzzAgent); Friedman's done graphic design (here she's chief buyer/merchandiser); and Larson, who serves as creative director, worked in advertising before starting his own studio, Adam&Co. We can't see how this trio could ever go wrong.
