I think of this year's bodies by Boston is too short. The questions should've been more ask better. Ann Palica from the online female winner was good. The only problem I have with this annual one is the retro style you put on the cover and in the inside. The editors must be cheap or dumb to pull a weak stunt like that. At least be original for once.

Ann Palica
OUR FEMALE ONLINE BODY CONTEST WINNER

Age: 34.

Occupation: artist/actress.

How often do you work out? I go to the gym or else run at least four times per week. In the summer I am even more active, as I am a huge fan of the outdoors and sports. I love to kayak, bike, hike, and swim in addition to the gym. I don’t even think of it as exercise; I just love it.

How do you stay in shape? A combination of exercise, lots of green vegetables, and fish, but I would have to say just as important is loving what I do and constantly challenging myself. I think when you are happy within, it gives you an amazing sense of good health and is just as important as the physical things we can do for ourselves. I did the whole “long commute/sit in the office” thing before and taking that step to branch out on my own and pursue what I love, coupled with the exercise, has put me in shape and given me a full sense of well being. Surrounding yourself with good and positive people is also part of the big picture of true health.

What inspires you to work out? I love the energy I have from working out and it makes me feel good. Plus, I hope to have a family someday and it is nothing short of inspiring to see women, acquaintances and friends, throughout Boston bounce back so quickly postpregnancy; it is truly amazing what you can do when you put your mind to something.

How closely do you watch what you eat? I really try to make a conscious effort to eat healthy. I rarely drink coffee and replaced it with green tea and I felt a huge change in my wellbeing almost immediately. I also consume a large amount of greens and fish. That being said, there is nothing like a burger. I think the key is to live healthy but not make it dictate your life; everything in moderation. I don’t find carrot sticks especially interesting, and when my boyfriend and I go out to dinner, I don’t order the side salad with a crouton for my meal.

What indulgence food tempts you the most? How much space do I get to answer this? I’m going to go with “one of everything” at Mike’s Pastry Shop.

What is your favorite exercise? In addition to going to the gym, surfing during season and carveboarding off season.

What is your least favorite exercise? I’m going to dedicate this one to my last trainer: it involved a weighted ball and a yoga mat; I’m sure there was a name but it seems I have blocked it from my memory for good reason.

You obviously have a great body now; did you ever go through an awkward stage? Obviously you haven’t seen my sixth grade picture.

If you could have someone else’s body for a day, whose would it be? Gwen Stefani — and could I get her voice while we’re at it?
