Michael Karshis

Dude, I've been in that same cab with the same thoughts a few times in the past 20 years. I still have a handful of Stuff magazines with ads I did for Axis, Citi and Venus back when I interned (and eventually got the gig after graduating from Mass Art) working for Patrick and John Lyons along with my Lansdowne graphic mentor Kevin MacIntire. Joe Verange and Caroline Basset were right down the hall from my groovy office above Venus- complete with a darkroom for the stat camera I used to create ads, flyers and posters.

Mr. Butch still ruled Kenmore Square and Planet Records, The Ratt and my cherished Me+1 status was part of my every day vocabulary.

Talk about back in the day...

Perhaps you can help me with my "end of night contentment" - I’m desperately looking for a shot, any shots, of the old Venus de Milo statue with the neon hula hoops on Lansdowne.

Thanks for taking me back and thanks in advance for any help with locating a shot Venus with hoops!

Peace,

Michael

Please come back and save your drowning column.

YOU are such a witty, succinct writer, with edge and bold hilarity. I am a female travel writer and appreciate the work behind getting thoughts on the page. I always find your adventures entertaining. Even when you're off the wall, you still manage to be tactful, and I have turned my entire office on to reading your stuff and laughing out loud at their desks.

Chris is not articulate, funny, or enlightening, and brings only unintelligent banter to the table. There's nothing funny about the really annoying guy on Saturday night that acts like a horny kid at an 8th grade dance. In fact, it's a turn-off. You offer quirky insight on crazy nights. He recounts his tasteless need to be "that gross guy."

His lack-luster article while you were on vacation was painful. If he keeps writing, I'll stop reading.

I can't say that the mag itself gave me much insight, but Faraones' article in the "Guy Issue" hit home on so many levels. The swiping of the ciggs and bouncing out of the car mid ride was classic. We all have had that sketchy drunk ride in the her car, gripping the "holy shit" handles, praying to god that she doesn't T-bone a parked semi ... in a parking lot.

Great stuff Chris, I will continue to pick up the mag in hopes of falling off the toilet seat ... again, rolling in laughter to your delightful anecdotes. Keep those Swishers tight

I'm a fan of your column. It's the one section I read completely in every issue. I have to take issue with one thing in this one though. I realize every single straight guy thinks this way, so I don't blame you, but would love to set the record straight, so to say. Gym locker rooms are not exactly Disney World for all gay men. One can only stomach so many middle aged hairy men with beer guts blow drying theirs balls before you want to hop back over the fence.

And when are you going to write about your photo in the meet me at downtown crossing billboard??
