Sugar mama
What a tasty time of year for Courtney Forrester. The owner of Back Bay cupcake boutique Sweet has filled her shelves with seasonal flavors like chocolate peppermint, gingerbread, and candy cane — not surprising for a woman with a serious sweet tooth. And although she gets her fill of sugar at the store, the former director of special events at the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum still finds her way to the candy jar when she heads out for the night.
@ 6:15 p.m.: I’m usually still at the store until about seven most nights, getting ready for whatever is coming up the next day.
@ 7:30 p.m.: I live a few blocks from here, so by now I’m running home before we head out. Lately, I’ve been spoiled with the opening of the Mandarin Oriental. We might pop over to M Bar or Asana to start the night off.
@ 9:45 p.m.: I drive a Mini Cooper, so my husband and I might jump into that and hit up somewhere like Hungry Mother, where we’ve been a lot lately, over in Cambridge.
@ midnight: By now, we’re finishing up dinner and heading straight over to Newbury Street, where both Sugar Heaven and JP Licks are open until midnight. I love to grab a bag of candy like Laffy Taffy before heading in for the night.
@ 2 a.m.: By now, I’m definitely asleep. The bakers for Sweet get up at 4 a.m. so that’s when I usually start checking my BlackBerry to make sure everything’s going smoothly.
