As a full-time server at Eastern Standard, Courtney Metsch spends most of her time helping others enjoy their nights off. The music and fashion buff is sometimes on her feet for up to 12 hours, and she gets precious little time to sit down and relax. But when she does, the Davis Square resident stays close to home, finding her way to some neighborhood haunts.
@ 6:15 p.m.: I usually stick close to my roots in Cambridge and Somerville, so one of my favorite spots is Hungry Mother. It just feels like home. And [chef] Barry Maiden’s food is amazing.I love the shrimp and grits.
@ 7:30 p.m.: I usually take my time at dinner, which is why I like to sit at the bar and not feel rushed. After my friends and I catch up at dinner, we’ll probably get a cocktail over at Green Street. This time of year they have an amazing beer list, and I’m really into artisanal beers.
@ 9:45 p.m.: I’ll try to catch some sort of show, like maybe some bluegrass or a solo artists at the Cantab or Lizard Lounge.
@ midnight: By now, I’m usually close to heading home, unless my friends convince me to grab a Miller High Life and shot of Fernet at Highland Kitchen.
@ 2 a.m.: We’re buddies with Joe McGuirk, the bartender there, so around now, we’ll take one last shot before he kicks us out and closes up.
