Libraries typically stir up our bad memories of all-night study
sessions and writing 25-page papers in one sitting. But we think we’re
finally far enough removed from those college experiences that we can
make our way to the stacks without feeling like we need to chug a Red
Bull. Plus, libraries aren’t just solely for books. Case in point: the Albert Wein Retrospective at the Boston Athenaeum (10 1/2 Beacon Street, Boston, 617.227.0270). The
Athenaeum’s Norma Jean Calderwood Gallery is featuring the first museum
retrospective of the American modernist sculptor’s work through
November 29. Wein’s work reveals his interest in the human figure and
classical Italian art; his resume also includes a stint doing
television set design. Want to get schooled in sculpture? Head to the
Athenaeum today from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.; gallery admission is free and
it’s open to the public.
