When we hear the word “unplugged” in a live-music description, we generally assume smooth, acoustic warbling is what’s in store. So it’s surprising that tomorrow night’s Boston Unplugged event at Mantra (52 Temple Place, Boston, 617.542.8111) features a line-up of plugged-in, locally born performers like electro-pop singer Solie, R&B crooners Duncan Daniels (pictured) and Lorenzo, and pop act Renee Marcou. This isn’t exactly laid-back Lilith Fair material, but we’ll forgive the Karmaloop-sponsored event for its questionable name, given that it’s a benefit for A Better Chance, a national organization supporting advanced educational opportunities for young people of color. Tickets are $10 in advance at smarttix.com, $20 at the door. The doors open at 9 p.m. for the line-up of live performers, and once their last note fades, DJ Joe DelBuono will man the decks to keep partygoers dancing to hip hop and house. Unplugged sounds electrifying, which is fine by us.
