If your idea of “fine china” involves industrial-grade Solo plates that can miraculously survive the dish washer, it is time to open your eyes to the haute couture of dining-room design. Tonight from 7 to 9 p.m. Shreve, Crump & Low (440 Boylston Street, Boston, 617.267.9100) is hosting an opening night celebration for Festive Table 2009, a two-floor showcase of chic place settings created by top local interior designers like Dennis Duffy and Anthony Catalfano. Tickets ($25) for the evening of cocktails, hors d’oeuvres, and wow-worthy displays are available here or via 617.267.9100, but if you give an extra $25, you’ll get access to a 6 p.m. VIP preview where you’ll meet and mingle with the designers. The night is sure to please your inner design snob and provide plenty of inspiration for your next holiday bash, but you can also take satisfaction in knowing that all ticket proceeds go to a great cause: tonight’s party is a fundraising event for the Boston Living Center, a nonprofit providing comprehensive support services for locals living with HIV/AIDS. Can’t make it tonight? Check out our photo-filled recap later this week on our Daily Stuff blog.
