Around Thanksgiving, just the faintest whiff of a freshly baked apple, pumpkin, pecan, or sweet potato pie is enough to have us letting out our belts a notch. So we think it'll be wise to leave the belts at home entirely for tonight’s Bella Luna Pie Party at 8 p.m. Besides serving up those aforementioned purchasable pies to help out Pie in the Sky, an annual fundraiser for local nonprofit Community Servings, the Jamaica Plain restaurant and lounge will pour out peach cobbler cocktails (um, yum?) and donate a portion of the proceeds to the organization. Community Servings serves home-delivered meals to hundreds of area individuals housebound with HIV/AIDS, cancer, and other life-threatening illnesses (for more on their work, check out the Good Stuff department in next week’s Chefs issue of STUFF), and Pie in the Sky brings together more than 150 Boston bakers, many from our favorite restaurants, to create 10,000+ pies for sale at 45 local spots. You can buy one tonight at Bella Luna Restaurant & The Milky Way Lounge (284 Amory Street, Jamaica Plain, 617.524.3740) for $25, or just make a $10 donation as your entrance fee. Then it’s all about downing some of those peachy keen drinks, noshing on complimentary pizza, dancing to beats from DJ Mike Swells of RISE, and indulging in a steaming, hearty slice of nice.
